Overview

What this service is: and who it is for.

What it is

Our showroom at Squires Garden Centre in Shepperton is a working display of the appliances, materials and finishes we install. Wood, multi-fuel, gas and electric stoves are on display, several live-fired, alongside hearth, chamber and surround samples.

Who it is for

For anyone in the early stages of specifying a stove or fireplace who wants to see the appliances in the flesh rather than in a catalogue. Also useful mid-project when a client is deciding between two shortlisted models.

When to book

Saturdays 11am–5pm walk-in, no appointment needed. Sundays by appointment. Weekday visits by arrangement. Installation and site-survey work runs Monday to Sunday, so weekday showroom slots depend on Chris's site schedule.

Why professional help matters

Photographs and catalogue images are unreliable, colour, scale, flame quality and finish all read differently in person. A 30-minute showroom conversation typically saves several weeks of second-guessing during specification.

If it's ignored

The cost of getting this wrong is higher than the cost of doing it once.

Online research is dominated by marketing images.

Every stove looks perfect in its manufacturer's photography. In person, quality varies, from build finish to flame picture. Seeing three shortlisted models side by side settles a decision quickly.

Sample chips are misleading.

A 10cm sample of honed granite tells you almost nothing about how a full hearth will read in your room. Live displays with full-scale hearths make the difference.

Choice paralysis wastes weeks.

The UK stove market has hundreds of models. A designer-led conversation narrows it to the two or three appropriate for your chimney, room and taste in one visit.

Our process

Five steps from first call to certificate in your hand.

The same disciplined sequence on every project, whether it's a Georgian townhouse in Windsor or a new-build media wall in Ascot.

  1. 01

    Free site survey

Chris visits your home to measure the chimney, hearth, room volume and ventilation. We inspect the flue, discuss aesthetics and confirm what is achievable in your specific property, from Georgian townhouses to sealed new-build breasts.

  2. 02

Fixed written quote in 24–48 hours

Every line item priced: stove, flue components, hearth, chamber works, building control. Potential extras (unforeseen chimney issues, structural adjustments) are itemised in advance so the number you sign off is the number you pay.

  3. 03

    Design & specification sign-off

We refine the stove choice, materials, chamber finish and flue route with you. Deposit: cost of the stove plus 50% of installation, secures your slot within 72 hours of quote acceptance.

  4. 04

Installation on site (typically 1–3 days)

Dust sheets and protection go down first. Our HETAS-registered team completes the install to Building Regulations, cleans as we go, and treats your home like our own, no shortcuts, no mess left behind.

  5. 05

    Testing, HETAS certificate & aftercare

Smoke test, draw test, first light with you present, plus a full walk-through of controls, fuel and maintenance. HETAS certificate issued to you and your insurer. 12-month workmanship guarantee starts the day we leave.

The benefit

What you actually get: beyond a stove in a hole.

Six specific, measurable outcomes we deliver on every job. No vague marketing claims.

  • Working live-fired displays

Several stoves are live-fired on the display floor so you can see flame quality and heat output in person.

  • Wood, gas and electric side by side

Compare fuel types visually and functionally in one room rather than across three separate visits.

  • Full material samples

Slate, sandstone, granite, brick slip and plaster reveal samples in full-tile format, not credit-card chips.

  • No-pressure conversation

Chris personally leads showroom consultations, a designer-led discussion, not a sales pitch.

  • Immediate quote path

Where you decide to proceed, we book the site survey during the visit and move straight to a written fixed quote within 24–48 hours.

  • Convenient Shepperton location

Squires Garden Centre, Halliford Road, TW17 8SG, free parking, cafe on site, twenty minutes from Windsor, Maidenhead and Sunbury.

Deep detail

What to expect from a showroom visit

The engineering, materials and decisions behind the finished job.

Arrival and walk-through

You are met by Chris or a member of the team. We walk you through the stoves on display, explain fuel types, and identify two or three appliances relevant to what you have described about your home.

Chamber and hearth samples

We show full-scale material samples for chamber lining, hearth and surround, slate, honed granite, sandstone, brick slip, polished plaster.

Live commissioning talk-through

For live-fired displays, we explain lighting, control, glass management and fuel selection, the same handover conversation clients receive at end of install, condensed.

Next steps

Where you want to proceed, we book a home site survey during your visit. If you are early in specification, we send you away with product data sheets and no follow-up pressure.
